Debalina Acharyya wins 2023 Three Minute Thesis Competition
BCMB PhD student Deb Acharyya was the 1st place winner in the 2023 Three Minute Thesis Final Competition. This competition challenges graduate students to talk about their research in a clear and engaging manner in only 3 minutes and using only 1 slide. A panel of judges select the participants who they feel give the most successful presentations.
Deb dissertation project is focused on the mechanisms by which neurons show resilience to excitotoxic stress. She uses the suprachiasmatic nucleus (SCN) as a model system and has found that microglia are essential for protecting the SCN from the deleterious effects of excitotoxicity.
